We are forming teams for this year's Wellness Within REACH Walk
on August 18th! For the past four years, the African American Health
Coalition, Inc. has held the Wellness Within REACH Walk as our main
fundraising event of the year, and its success is vital to our organization
and community we support.
THE PROBLEM:
The African American Health Coalition, Inc. (AAHC) needs everyone's'
help!! African Americans die from stroke and other preventable diseases
at higher rates than whites. In 2001, the rate of death from stroke
in Oregon was 88% higher for blacks than whites. The AAHC has sponsored
a no cost physical activity program for Blacks since 2000, to address
this disparity. We cannot do it alone, and our community's health
will suffer if this program ends.
THE SOLUTION:
Your support can sustain the free exercise program, and we need
it now more than ever. Please help by forming a team for the 5th
annual Health Walk. A team consists of 10 individuals and costs
$150.00, which is a $50.00 savings. We especially encourage youth
teams, because childhood obesity is at an all time high.

at 2800 N Vancouver Ste. 100 and ask for John today. You can also
sponsor a team without participating in the walk, and the AAHC will
find participants to fill your team. You do not have to be an organization
to form a team. Get your friends, family, church members, job, or
any other group together to form a team today. "A Healthy Community
Starts with You" is our motto, but without YOU we cannot sustain
COMMUNITY HEALTH.
