The
5th Annual Wellness Within REACH Walk in on Saturday August 18,
2007. The Walk will begin at 9 am, with event day registration,
music, and activities starting at 8 am. The Walk starts and finishes
at Dawson Park . The park is located across the street from Legacy
Emanual Hospital , 101 N Morris.
HOW
LONG IS THE WALK?
There
are two courses, a 1.5 mile loop and a 4 mile loop, both start and
end at Dawson Park .
HOW
DO I REGISTER AND PAY?
On-line
For your convenience, you may pay by credit card* on-line at the
AAHC website’s events page: www.aahc-portland.org
In person
You can register in person at the African American Health Coalition,
located across the street from Legacy Emanuel Hospital at 2800
N. Vancouver Avenue, Suite 100,
8:30 a.m.-5 p.m. Monday-Friday. You also may register the day
of the event at Dawson Park.
By mail
Complete the registration form inside, cut off and mail registration
and check made payable to: African American Health Coalition,
Inc., 2800 N. Vancouver Ave., Suite 100
Portland, OR 97227. Please do not mail cash.
WHAT
DO I NEED TO DO TO FORM A TEAM?
Enclosed
in this packet are all of the materials you will need to form a
team. Each team must submit a team registration form as well as
individual registration forms. The team captain is responsible for
collecting a signed individual registration form for each participant
and submitting both the team and individual registration forms to
the AAHC office. Walk fees are only $150 for a team of ten and $15
for each additional team member. Please complete your team registration
by Friday, August 10th. You can pay registration fees online with
a credit card at the AAHC website at www.aahc-portland.org or in
the AAHC office at 2800 N. Vancouver Ave, Suite 100 , Portland ,
OR 97227 .
WHAT
IF WE CAN'T GET ENOUGH PEOPLE?
If
your organization cannot form a team of 10, you may donate any
remaining team slots to community members. The AAHC will be happy
to work with you to make arrangements for donating these slots.
Fill out your team registration form and write DONATE in each
slot that you will not be using. We will notify you when the slots
have been donated, probably sometime in August.
WHAT
IF WE ARE UNABLE TO ATTEND THE WALK?
The
AAHC will work with our partner organizations to donate the slots
to youth who would have otherwise been unable to attend. You or
your team will be recognized at the walk as a youth sponsor. We
will notify you when your team or individual slot has been filled,
probably sometime in August.
CAN
I BRING MY PET ALONG FOR THE WALK?
In
order to be courteous to everyone involved in the walk, we ask that
you do not bring pets or participate with bicycles, skateboards,
or skates.
WHAT
ABOUT TRANSPORTATION AND PARKING?
Limited
parking is available at the lot on N. Graham St. between N. Williams
and N. Vancouver Ave. Dawson Park is accessible by TriMet bus line
numbers 4, 33, and 40.
WILL
WATER BE PROVIDED?
Water
will be available at the start and finish, and at various points
along the both courses (1.5 miles and 4 miles). Warm temperatures
and humidity are likely so please pace yourself and bring additional
water if needed.
